With GetResponse, you can easily build a mailing list, categorize your subscribers into different groups, automate your emails, and see analytics on email engagement.

But GetResponse isn’t just an email marketing platform; it’s also an e-commerce tool that can integrate webinar hosting, sales funnels, landing page editors, and other features.

To dive into this GetResponse review, let’s take a closer look at GetResponse’s key features, including its email marketing, forms, landing pages, and webinar hosting.

Note that the features you get all depend on which plan GetResponse plan you choose. If you simply need an email marketing tool to design forms and landing pages, build your list, and send emails to subscribers, you can choose its basic plan. But if you need premium features, such as webinar hosting, you’ll need to upgrade. 

Email marketing

GetResponse is first and foremost an email marketing tool. With this software, you can collect subscribers and send emails to your list.

Its email creator has an easy-to-use drag-and-drop builder, allowing you to format and design your emails however you want. You don’t need any coding knowledge to design a great-looking newsletter.

Plus, you can select one of GetResponse’s goal-oriented email templates to maximize your conversion rates, whether you want a user to click on a link or purchase a product.

Forms and landing pages

GetResponse offers a bunch of beautifully designed templates to create forms and landing pages for your blog or online business. With its templates, you don’t need to know any coding to customize gorgeous forms.

But if you do know coding, you also have the option to create a custom form with HTML. You can present your GetResponse forms as pop-up forms, embedded forms, or scroll forms.You can also include a spambot-blocking CAPTCHA feature to prevent fake sign-ups.

GetResponse also offers a large number of SEO-optimized landing page templates, which you can easily customize with its drag-and-drop builder. You can even insert a countdown timer if you’re offering a limited-time promotion.

All its forms and templates are responsive, meaning they’ll look good on mobile, desktop, or whatever other device a viewer is using.

By creating beautiful, goal-oriented, responsive forms and landing pages, you can increase your number of sign-ups and grow your email list.

Marketing automation

Email marketing works best when you can put everything on autopilot, and GetResponse lets you do that with its its autoresponders.

Basically, you can create an autoresponder so that an email or series of emails are automatically sent out to certain subscribers.

Here’s how it works:

  • First, set up a condition. You add a condition to the workflow page in your dashboard. A condition could be be something like, “Joined your email list” or “Clicked on a link in your blog post.”
  • Then, set an action: After establishing the condition, you need to add an action. For example, your pre-written series of emails can send automatically to someone who joins your email list.
  • Finally, consider a filter. You can add filters to customize your automations. For example, you might want new subscribers to get a different email funnel than those who have been with you for a year. Or you can create different automations depending on your audience’s interests. If you’re selling products, you can even send reminders to people who added your product to a cart but didn’t check out.

It’s up to you how simple or complex you want to get with your automations, but GetResponse allows you to set up intricate automations from your dashboard.

GetResponse’s conversion funnels help you set up an entirely automated sales funnel.

A sales funnel is the step-by-step sequence that’s designed to turn readers into subscribers and subscribers into customers.

GetResponse can help you set up your entire funnel, including,

  • Simple opt-ins or complex landing pages
  • Lead magnets (or the free content you’ll offer in exchange for an email address)
  • And even webinar funnels

You can even add a pop-up set to appear when someone’s about to leave your page. Or you can create an “upsell page” to pitch another product during the checkout process.

Data segmentation options

GetResponse makes it easier to divide your list into different buckets depending on your unique criteria. When using GetResponse, this is called segmentation.

Examples of criteria for segmentation include date they subscribed, location, purchase history, and interests.

With GetResponse, it’s easy to set up segmentations for your list and choose who to send emails to — and who to leave out.

Webinars

With the exception of its basic plan, GetResponse also offers webinar hosting, which makes it a more comprehensive software than some other email marketing platforms.

You can set up webinars from within your GetResponse account and link them directly to your email list. You can host unlimited webinars with up to 1,000 live attendees, and can share the virtual stage with two other presenters.

Plus, GetResponse’s software lets you share files in many formats, upload YouTube videos, livestream your webinar on Facebook and YouTube, and store up to 20 hours of webinar recordings.

GetResponse also helps you set up SEO-optimized landing pages to get people to sign up.

And it includes pre-designed registration pages, invitation and nurturing emails, and payment gateways — basically everything you need to set up and run a webinar and sell products.

This can be an excellent feature for content creators who want to connect more deeply with their audience and promote their digital products.

Single or double opt-ins

With GetResponse, there are two ways you can add subscribers to your mailing list. They are:

  • Single opt-in: This option lets subscribers join your email list immediately after sharing their email via one of your forms or landing pages.
  • Double opt-in: With this option, subscribers immediately get an email asking them to confirm their email or subscription to your list. They have to click this confirmation link before they’re on your list and receive whatever freebie (aka, lead magnet) you offered in your form or landing page.

The single opt-in feature makes it easier for users to subscribe to your mailing list. But the double opt-in feature ensures that you have a genuine list of subscribers who really want to be on your list.

Not only will this double opt-in filter out fake email addresses, but it could also generate better conversions.

That said, you could use the single opt-in and manually delete cold subscribers, or subscribers who haven’t opened your emails in a while, every few months.

With GetResponse, the choice is yours.

Reports and analytics

GetResponse comes with a tracking tool that integrates with Google Analytics. At the click of a button, the tool shows all your campaigns’ engagement metrics.

For example, it shows how many subscribers received your emails, opened them, read through them, clicked links, etc. You can use this detailed information to keep refining and improving your email marketing strategy.

GetResponse allows users to try out any of their plans for 30 days for free. After your 30-day free trials, you can choose one of its four plans: Basic, Plus, Professional, or Max.

The cost of the plans, with the exception of the Max plan, depends on how many subscribers you have. For the Basic plan with up to $1,000 subscribers, you’d pay $15 per month.

Note that the Basic plan does not include webinar hosting. Also, your prices go down if you commit to a longer plan.

For the 12-month plan, you could pay as little as $12.30 on the Basic plan:

Pros of GetResponse

No GetResponse review would be complete without highlighting its pros and cons. Let’s start with the pros:

  • Lots of forms and landing pages: GetResponse makes it easy to collect email subscribers with its beautiful form and landing page templates, which are easy to customize with its drag-and-drop builder.
  • Affordability: With a plan starting at just $15 per month (or $10.50 per month if you commit to two years), GetResponse is relatively affordable.
  • Advanced features: Depending on your plan, you can enjoy advanced features such as conversion funnels and webinar hosting.
  • Segmentation: With GetResponse, you can easily manage your subscribers and categorize them by whatever criteria you want.

Cons of GetResponse

According to EmailToolTester, GetResponse doesn’t currently have the best email deliverability rate. So far in 2021, EmailToolTester gave it a deliverability rate of 83.8%.

According to the study, here’s an example of email marketing tools with a higher deliverability rate than GetResponse in March 2021:

  • GetResponse vs. MailerLite: MailerLite wins with a rate of 96.6%. It has the highest email deliverability rate in the industry, according to this particular study.
  • GetResponse vs. ConvertKit: ConvertKit wins with a deliverability rate of 96.3%.
  • Constant Contact vs. GetResponse: Constant Contact wins win a deliverability rate of 91.5%.
  • GetResponse vs. ActiveCampaign: ActiveCampaign wins with a deliverability rate of 91.1%.
  • GetResponse vs. MailChimp: MailChimp carries the day with a deliverability rate of 86.9%.

GetResponse can also only accommodate up to 1,000 webinar attendees, which may be low depending on your business and email list.

Finally, GetResponse reviews of the company’s customer service are mixed. When you look at TrustPilot, some customers complain about long wait times and unhelpful responses, though others were happy with the support they received.

GetResponse offers 24/7 customer support. You can either submit a ticket or chat directly with support via the chat feature on its website.

GetResponse also comes with a pool of resources to help you find what you need. The Help Center section of its website has articles and videos to teach you how to use this software.

You can search for answers to your questions via the search bar. If you don’t find what you need, you can contact support through email or live chat.

GetResponse is an excellent email marketing platform. It has an easy-to-use interface and all the features you need to grow your email list, embed forms and landing pages on your site, and segment your subscribers.

If you run webinars, you’ll also appreciate GetResponse’s all-in-one webinar hosting on its more advanced plans. If you’re concerned about its lower deliverability rate, you might spend some time looking into other email platforms.

However, you can often improve deliverability by taking certain steps. These could include using a double opt-in instead of a single one, making it easy for users to unsubscribe if they want to, and improving engagement with your email campaigns.
